Landscape Architectural Lighting Deserves More Attention

When Done Properly Landscape Lighting Can Have Many  Value Added, Practical And Visual Advantages.

Landscape Lighting is a true art and something that  deserves more attention and in my view a lot more respect. In This Concierge Report I will share some insight into the beauty of Landscape Lighting and the benefits it creates when done with proper detail and a specific outcome in mind during both the design and implementation stages.

As many products have crossed my path over my years in the Outdoor living arena  Landscape Lighting, Architectural Lighting or also know as Nightscaping has never seemed to be able to get the traction  and attention that I feel it should. When it comes to lighting outdoor spaces, most tend to think of simply illuminating the exterior of a structure or property.

One of the most underestimated aspects of landscape lighting is that it can actually extend living space physically as well as visually.

Landscape Lighting creates a deeper sense of depth perception when light is brought to a dark back corner or a distant front section of a property.

It visually pushes the boundaries of a property. The more elements that are lit, the more it will push the edges of where a persons vision will tend to gravitate.

Pushing this boundary creates a visually striking look for the outside of the house, especially when the interior lights are turned off.

This practice of expanding nighttime living space is know as boundary lighting. Many people have a fence or shrub line that represents the end of their property line. This section can be illuminated with a small output wall wash fixture. When done properly using photo-metrics, (Photometry is the science of the measurement of light, in terms of its perceived brightness to the human eye.) more than one light can be overlapped to create a continuous wall of light that will subtly show the edges of a yard.

Outdoor Lighting  has become a stand alone important industry inside the Outdoor Living Lifestyle environment.

There is a  vast amount of research and development that is carried out by the industries top players which leads to new and innovative product introductions which are important for a professional to keep up to date on.

To be clear, I am a huge fan of Home depot and stores of that nature but certain products they carry, like their upset-tingly bad lines of outdoor landscape lights may very well be why people don’t give this very important Outdoor Living aspect the respect it deserves.

Having an Outdoor Lighting project designed and installed by a professional who uses durable, good quality and time tested materials is something I highly recommend.
